the love lock series: the written in the stars chapter

Some love stories are just written in the stars, and I honestly do believe in soulmates and that everyone finds who they are meant to be with.
I had the pleasure of being able to interview a married couple, Nathanael and Jaqueline Forrey. The love they share for one another, rooted in their love for Christ is truly inspiring, and their answers revealed to me what true Christian love looks like.
Nathanael said, “One of the first things that drew me in was her maturity. She seemed very self aware and was open and honest in our conversations. We would talk and/or argue for hours on end- it’s safe to say that we moved past the stage of superficial friendship pretty quickly. The thing that ultimately led me to pursue her was the softness of her heart. She was so attentive to God’s will and eager to conform to His wisdom for her life. She was also so sweet to me and showed more genuine care than I’ve ever experienced from another human being. I felt a supernatural confidence in us and I knew that a relationship like ours would be a once in a lifetime opportunity. I love her gentleness. I love her servant’s heart. I love her adventurous spirit. I love her mind. I love how deliberately and intentionally she walks in holiness.”
Jaqueline’s response was, “Before I could truly fall in love with a man, I had to fall in love with Jesus. As someone who didn’t know the Lord when I met my husband, I can say that a love I had never known radiated from him. He had a servant’s heart, he loved me unconditionally, and he was bold in his faith. Even as a nonbeliever, I could see the love of Christ through him. So, I fell in love with Nathaneal because through him, I fell in love with Jesus. Through Nathanael, I was shown my first love, so that I could truly love him. I said yes to a relationship with Nathanael when I saw this indescribable love in him. We had differences, but he loved me in spite of them. We grew together and reworked our behaviors and habits to each others’. When I knew he was willing to fight for our relationship no matter what obstacles approached, I knew that he would be the one I married, so I said ‘yes’ and ‘I do.’ I knew that he loved the Lord, I knew that he had a love for family, and I knew that he was ready to lay his life down for me as Christ laid his life down for the church. I love Nathanael because he loves the Lord.”
I think a love like theirs, where each has transformed each other’s faith journeys and enhanced their lives through a naturally affectionate relationship, is written in the stars, an undeniably worthwhile experience proving that true love between two people is as powerful and intricate as stars in the sky.
